Deep Tissue Massage

Deep tissue massage involves techniques such as the manipulation of the deeper layers of tissue in the body to break up adhesions and prevent excessive scar tissue formation from injury. For a muscle to function, the fibres need to be able to glide smoothly alongside one another, but when stuck together they cannot do this and the affected area will not function optimally. Adhesions can also form between different structures, such as between a ligament and tendon or a muscle and bone. This can lead to a significant restriction in movement and function.
